Question:
I've been on Wellbutrin for a few days now. I've been having to pee all the time. Also, two days in a row now, I have woken up to find myself urinating in my bed!!! Is this common??? I am 23 and am not ready for the Depends quite yet!!

Answer:
That is a bit old, anyway many doctors have switched over to the newer Wellbutrin SR - same as Zyban - that does not have to be taken as many times a day and supposedly has reduced side-effects. See http://www.wellbutrinsr.com for info from the manufacturer. As for wetting the bed: check with your doctor, perhaps there are other meds you can take to get rid of it, if not I would try a different medicine. This is non-medical but I have been on Wellbutrin for almost 4 years. I think what's happening is that this med is very similar to an amphetamine like substance in us. So, you may be going to the bathroom more just like if you had taken a "diet" pill. There is medical jargon for it, sorry, I didn't take the time to call on that. It is also affecting a "system" in the body that has a relationship to the control of this area. I do not know if it will subside like many side effects do. I have had this happen off an on, also. Funny, I never related it to the Wellbutrin. It is definitely disconcerting. However, since I have no other side effects and this is the only AD that has helped me in what is becoming a long list, I can live with it. I've been on Wellbutrin SR a few weeks at a dose of 100 mg/day (to counteract the sexual side-effects of Paxil) and I haven't noticed that. But in terms of urinary problems, I find that the clonazepam I take (or is it the Paxil?)causes urinary retention... I think that's the correct term. Like, I feel I have to go, but I really have to try, and hardly anything comes out. Has anyone else experienced this with clonazepam or other benzos? I don't think it's the WB because this started before I was put on WB.
