I am currently on 40mg of Paxil daily, works fine feeling great,BUT.... I have lost most of my sex drive erection is fine when i get around to having sex but I used to want it all the time now maybe and I say maybe once a week ....I am thinking about takin wellbutrin to fix this !

I've been on Paxil 30 mg/day for a couple of months now. Works great for depression but of course, I got those pesky sexual problems. So I got the doc to prescribe 100 mg Wellbutrin SR/dayfor the sexual side effects. A brief profile of my Paxil sexual dysfunction: first 2 weeks, NO sex drive. 3rd week: impotent. Thereafter: sex drive at about 45% but almost impossible to reach orgasm. (I am a healthly, previously horny, 26-year old male.) Wellbutrin makes you horny, supposedly (it was originally going to be marketed for those with very low sex drives, from what I've read) and apparently can reverse SSRI sexual dysfunction. I haven't been on it that long, but let me say that it's working for me. (I tried huge doses of Gingko Biloba first, and that helped a bit but not enough.) I also think that since Wellbutrin works on 3 neurotransmitters (including dopamine, the "pleasure" one) that it might give me a better overall "feeling". (Still, I think Paxil is great, much better than the Prozac I was on 3 years ago.) I also find Wellbutrin gives me a bit of a "kick" in the morning when I need it, and doesn't interfere with the anti-anxiety effects of the clonazepam (Rivotril, Klonopin) I'm on. Just a strange kind of buzzing feeling in my head, which I think will go away soon. What you have to be careful of is serotonin syndrome, and your doc might suggest lowering the Paxil dose you're on (40 mg) to maybe 30 mg. Consider the low sex drive a blessing in disguise..I used to be sex obsessed. am no longerand am I glad! I find that I am more of a human being. I no longer look at people as sex objects..Believe me, high sex drive is nothing to brag about, Impresses no one I would like to impress, and wastes a lot of energy which could be spent doing something creative. Actually, even though I'm taking Wellbutrin to help with the sexual side-effects of Paxil, I do agree - my sex drive is maybe at 60-70% of what it used to be, and it's nice to no longer be preoccupied with sex. This tends to keep me out of bad situations... (I won't say any more, I'm sure you can imagine.) But at the same time, if you're in a relationship and your sex drive is suddenly gone, your partner isn't going to feel too great, even if you insist it's because of the anti-depressant.
