Question:
I am currently taking 75mg Efexor XR and have been for the last 4 weeks. I was having terrible trouble sleeping and the Dr prescribed 7.5 mg Zopiclone/night. I read in the PIL that the sleeping tablet was not recommended in cases of depression and the first night I took it, i found myself with a terrible urge to commit suicide. I found the same thing the next night (although before taking the sleeping pill). Has anyone heard of this drug combination worsening depression (the ADs are not having any effect yet). I also take Cilest as a contraceptive.

Answer:
Haven't heard anything about the combination. I would ask your doc about Trazadone. It's non-addicting, helps you sleep, decreases anxiety and depression. for whatever it's worth, when i took trazodone (for insomnia) i developed a tolerance - kept having to increase it, up to 400mg (at which point i just gave up on the stuff.) dunno if this happens to other people. also, at the starting dose usually used for insomnia (50mg), trazodone has NO antidepressant activity and little antianxiety activity. trazadone has stoped my vivid dreaming and is improving my sleep- thank god. However I am having memory and concentration problems.I am take 75 mg nardil and 100 mg of trazadone.I also have trouble writing -mixing up letters and transposing numbers.I anyone experienced these side effect I would like to hear about then. Yes, I have a similar problem with typing. I was glad to see your post because I've never seen anyone else mention it. I'm taking 20mg Prozac, and 10mg Librium daily. I work with computers, and have been having a LOT of trouble with transposing letters, entire groups of letters, or just leaving several letters out of individual words, and many other bizarre typos that are uncharacteristic for me. It's weird because I don't feel mentally foggy. The concept that I'm trying to type is quite clear in my mind, but my fingers just seem to hit all the wrong keys. This has only recently begun since I have been on the Prozac. I noticed it weeks before starting on the Librium, though. My job has involved typing for many years, so I'm very familiar with my normal typing cadence and rate of errors. Thus I am fairly certain that I'm not just imagining this problem having begun since starting the prozac 6 weeks ago.
