I have been on 50mgs of zoloft for 4 years. I have stopped taking it cold turkey since I want to try 5-HTP, and can't take it unless the zoloft is out of my system for at least a month. It has been two weeks now and I am having withdrawal symptoms of a feeling of electric shocks down my left arm and sometimes the feeling of dizziness that lasts for a few seconds at a time. Has anyone experienced these symptoms also, how long do they last?

I had severe withdrawals from Zoloft, as I've stated many times before in this group. I don't know what it's like to withdraw from Heroin, but I'm sure that that's exactly how I felt. I had eeby jeeby tingling, shocky feelings all over my body and couldn't function for a week, till I was put back on. My doctor said next time we'll wean for a two month period. What I don't get is why there isn't anything at all out there to at least temporarily counteract the withdrawals. I think doctors cover there own tracks and interests by saying there isn't anything they can do, but I'm sure there is. They're just as clueless as the patients. But God forbid they admit it! Maybe I'm a wimp, but I refuse to allow my body and mind to ever go through that again!!! Some day I'll wean off Zoloft, but at least I'm a functioning, alert, reasonably happy person for the meantime.
