Question:
Has anyone else had this problem on Paxil? Did the weight come off after quitting it? Did you switch to another drug? I am desparate, but cannot go back to the depths of despair I felt before Paxil. I feel trapped.

Answer:
It's probably too soon to tell. My ex-doctor insisted Zoloft did not cause weight gain, but things I read here and elsewhere on the 'net, plus my own scale, said otherwise. So did studies more recent than the dark ages materials she was going by. Same here. After going off Zoloft about six weeks ago, I've lost 12.5 of the 30 pounds I'd gained in four+ months on it, but I am so depressed that I spent a large part of Christmas Day thinking about suicide. But being fat (and going bald -- I lost A LOT of hair on Zoloft) are depressing, too. How un-depressed can you be if you feel ugly? That can cause social phobia. I took Paxil for a year and a half, gained weight, felt tired all the time etc. My dr gave me Wellbutrin to "pep" me up, it didn't work. I have been off the Paxil for a while now, still having trouble losing weight, but I am taking Effexor, so that might be the problem. Before you quit Paxil, I would check with your dr, let them ease you off slowly, I quit cold turkey, didn't know about the side effects, and I thought I was losing it, like lightening bolts going through my head, this lasted for a few weeks, it was not fun. I agree with you about being slim, there is nothing good about being fat!
